Frequently Asked Questions

In this section we have compiled a selection of frequently asked questions and their answers. If you don't find what you are looking for, please use telephone 306-668-0248 for further information.

What is the duration of the program? In September, 2024, the program begins with a three-month education course. This phase ensures candidates are proficient in communication, IT, mathematics, and science. Candidates who successfully complete this section will proceed to the next phase. From January, 2025, the pilot training starts in the classroom, simulator and in aircraft. It is expected that all phases of training will be complete by June 2026. After celebrating their graduation, the graduates will transfer directly from the Dziret'ai Pilot Pathway Program into the employment of Rise Air.

Where does the training take place and where will I live? All phases of the program will take place in Saskatoon. Accommodation is provided throughout the duration of the program. For the first three month phase, accommodation will only be provided to the students. For the students who proceed to pilot training in January, 2025, they will be entitled to different available financial supports to enable them to bring their spouse and children. If a student already lives in Saskatoon, they will still be entitled to financial support. Our goal is to have all students living in the same building as we recognize that for many, this might be there first time living away from their home community. Accommodation will be in either a one or two-bedroom apartment, depending on the needs of the student. Apartments will be well maintained and in a safe location. If accommodation larger than two-bedrooms is required by a student and their family, the program will not fund it directly. It may be possible to secure assistance from another agency. All participants provided with accommodation will be required to ensure the unit remains in good condition.

What does the program cost me? Thanks to the support of key partners, in creating this program, everything from accommodation to living expenses will be covered while the students are actively participating in the program. Once a student has graduated, they will go in to the employment of Rise Air which will be a unionized, salaried position.

Is there a job at the end of the training? Yes, successful graduates will be guaranteed employed by Rise Air at one of their facilities across Saskatchewan.

How do we book visits to a home community? Scheduled Breaks: Students have the opportunity to visit their home communities during designated breaks throughout the training program. These breaks typically coincide with holidays such as Christmas, Easter, and Winter Carnivals. Optional Flight Practice: Students seeking additional flight practice may choose to remain at Mitchinson Flight Centre during these breaks (subject to the Centre's operating hours). Free Travel for Students: Students participating in the Dziret'ái program are entitled to free travel to their home communities during scheduled breaks. Family Discounts: If a student's immediate family members have relocated to Saskatoon to accompany them during the program, they may qualify for discounted flights when traveling with the student. Booking Process: Flights are booked through our reservations department, subject to seat availability.
